Elected for a four-year term (2023-2027) at the head of the National Confederation of Industry (CNI), Antonio Ricardo Alvarez Alban holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBa) and in Business Administration from the School of Administration at UFBa.

He chaired the Federation of Industries of the State of Bahia (FIEB) in the period 2014-2023 and the Center of Industries of the State of Bahia (CIEB) between 2018 and 2023. Under his leadership, FIEB expanded its operations to the interior of the state and expanded the provision of services to the Bahian industry, with a focus on corporate management and environmental, regulatory and credit issues.

Innovation was another highlight in his management, which contributed to creating a hub for the new industry in Bahia, based on innovation, research and development (R&D) and clean energy, through SENAI Cimatec and adherence to the Global Compact.

Alban is also vice-chairman of the National Association of the Biscuit Industry; chairman of the Union of the Wheat, Corn, Cassava, Pasta and Biscuits Industry of the State of Bahia; member of the National Council of SESI; the Nordeste Forte Association; the Board of Directors of the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (FNDCT) and the Boards of Directors of Renova and Cetrel, in addition to being a member of the Agro Advisory Board of Unigel.

In the private sector, Alban worked at Citibank in the early 1980s and, since 1987, he has been a managing partner of Biscoitos Tupy, a traditional Bahian food factory founded by his family.
