Master and PhD in Economic Development from the Institute of Economics of the State University of Campinas (IE/UNICAMP). He served as consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), visiting researcher at the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP), guest researcher at the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies (RISS), and consultant for the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). He was an adjunct professor at the School of Economics of the Federal University of Bahia (FCE/UFBA).

He has experience in the areas of International Economics, Industrial Economics, and Innovation, with an emphasis on studies on industry, innovation, and technology catch-up, international insertion, and the economic development of Brazil and South Korea.
